LETTER: I am ashamed
I have lived in Germantown Hills for just less than eight years.
Like my neighbors I got the yellow printout rubberbanded to my front door last Saturday. I read it with a neighbor.
My first response was, “ They say they will give transparent facts and information, but those ‘facts’ will be through the prism of their own opinions.”
Now today I read in the Woodford Times about the childish behavior of the new mayor and all the board members.
I am ashamed that I haven’t attended the meetings and encouraged my neighbors to go with me. I am ashamed of these men on the board and the mayor for their behavior.
I must say I went to a few meetings when Marv Johnson was mayor, to bring up a couple specific issues and I was treated rudely. After they let me ask my questions, they acted like they expected me to leave the room. I am a single woman and they sure made it feel like I was invading the boys club house.
I want an explanation of why so much money has been spent on attorneys fees over the past five years and I think we should know why the bill is still nearly twice that of Metamora’s.
Where else are they wasting tax dollars?
Those of us on fixed incomes want to know, as our tax bills just go ever higher!
I read in the Journal Star last week that growth in Woodford County hassurpassed that of the other counties in the area, and though Germantown Hills grew at an incredible pace the first few years of the current decade, that has leveled off and now Metamora is growing again. I have some ideas on why this community has slowed.
I will be at the next meeting, and it’s time for the doors to come off the boys clubhouse, and the boys need to act like grown-ups.
