Metamora volleyball team beats Washington!

The first three matchups now are a distant memory for the Metamora volleyball team.

The Redbirds stunned Washington Tuesday in the Class 3A LaSalle-Peru Sectional semifinals, 25-18, 22-25, 25-19.

Metamora got off to a 13-4 lead in the first set and went on a 12-4 run to erase an early deficit in set three and avenge three losses this season to the rival Lady Panthers.

“That was a great win for us, but we don’t want to stop now,” said Redbird coach Karla Bartman.

Metamora (27-11) plays Morris at 7 p.m. Thursday for the title. The Redbirds will shoot for their third sectional championship in the last four years.

Metamora’s Kristin Rauh, who Bartman said moved to the right side to help block, led all players with 16 kills.
