Corn Belt Conference football, volleyball teams

Eureka junior Kelsey Young was an all-conference selection.

Eureka senior Christian Watson earned all Corn Belt Conference recognition for his performance on both sides of the ball when the all-conference teams were announced last week.

Watson, the Hornets' quarterback and defensive back, made the first team on defense and the second team on offense.

Watson was the only Eureka player to make the first team (voted on by the coaches) for offense or defense.

Junior running back Ben Pintar and senior tackle George Jones were honorable mention selections on offense.

Junior lineman Bradley Brewer, senior linebacker Brandon Robbins, sophomore linebacker Cater Vance and senior defensive back Peter Hoekstra were honorable mention selections on defense.

Hoekstra returned an interception for a touchdown earlier this season.

Senior kick returner John Luginbuhl was an honorable mention election on special teams.

Volleyball

Eureka junior Kelsey Young was the only Hornets player to make the first team all Corn Belt Conference volleyball team.

Junior Shelby Kupferschmid made the second team. Senior Angie Burns was an honorable mention selection.
