EUREKA HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL

• The Hornets beat Bloomington Central Catholic 62-60 on a last-secnd shot by Alex Hunt. Sophomore Kyle Hady led the Hornets with 16 points. Hunt and Jared McCunn scored 14 points each. Eureka improved to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in the Corn Belt Conference. The Hornets lost their final game of the Macomb Western Holiday Tournament Dec. 30, 67-59 to Pleasant Plains. Hardy, McCunn and Hunt each scored 13 points.

EUREKA HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL

• Eureka beat Roanoke-Benson 54-30 on the road behind 15 points from senior point guard Kalla Gold. Gold scored 33 points and made eight three-pointers in the Hornets' 57-51 win over St. Bede Dec. 30. The win clinched the tournament title for Eureka. The Hornets came from behind and outscored the host Bruins 33-19 in the second half.

METAMORA HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL

• The Redbirds (10-2) beat Camp Point Central 46-35 Dec. 30 for fifth place at the Macomb Western Holiday Tournament. Ben Friday led Metamora with 15 points and six rebounds.

EUREKA HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING

• The Hornets lost their first dual match of the season against LeRoy, one of the top teams in the area. Brian Spurgeon, Chase Scherrer and Derek Hartter had individual victories for Eureka.
