The Batters Box 1/17/12

Tom Batters

It feels like spring!

Well, not outside, but on my calendar.

I’m used to crossing out dates and calling schools for info on rescheduled games during the spring, when rainy weather tends to make scheduling a nightmare.

But, last Thursday, after the first snow “event” of the winter hit Central Illinois, a few games had to be rescheduled.

The Metamora High School girls basketball game against Canton has been rescheduled for tonight (Jan. 17) at 5:30 p.m. at MTHS. That will be the opening act of a double feature. The boys team will play Canton following the girls game (at about 7 p.m.).

The Eureka High School girls basketball home game against Rantoul has been rescheduled to Jan. 28. That game will start at 2 p.m. (varsity only, no jv game).

The Eureka High School wrestling team’s match at Mahomet-Seymour will be made up today (Jan. 17).

Check out my web column tomorrow for more on Tuesday night’s games, plus my thoughts on the upcoming Regional seed meetings. Will any of the Metamora or Eureka teams earn a No. 1 seed?

• Kalla Gold scored 20 points to lead the Eureka High School girls team to a 58-37 win at Mahomet-Seymour. Michaela Balducci had 15 points. Shelby Kupferschmid had eight points.
