Metamora baseball ends regular season

The regular season is over.

Metamora's baseball team began the final week of the regular season with a 2-0 home loss to Mid-Illini Conference rival Limestone.

Trent Johnson started on the mound and struck out eight batters during the game.

Alec Skender went two-for-three from the plate but the Redbirds only managed three hits overall.

On Saturday, the team won a doubleheader at home against Centennial.

The Redbirds won the first game, 3-2, behind a strong pitching performance from Dylan Mullins.

Brendan Nachtrieb, Jacob Hargis and Brady Fairfield all drove in one run during the game.

The team then beat Centennial, 7-6.

Braden Mann picked up the win on the mound for the Redbirds in relief.

Joe Barrow drove in five runs for the team during the game.

The team begins the Morton Regional at 4:30 p.m. May 22 against the winner of the Peoria High School and East Peoria game.
