Metamora basketball prepares for tournaments

For a one-loss team like Metamora, the Macomb Holiday Tournament is a gift.

With the promise of a lot of games in a few days, Metamora's skills will be tested against some of the top teams in the state.

The Redbirds will start the tournament at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 26 against Camp Central.

If the fourth-ranked Redbirds win, they will play at 4 p.m. Thursday against the winner of the Hancock and West Central game.

If Metamora loses, it will play the loser of the West Central and Hancock game.

Although the teams would have to meet in either the championship game or the consolation bracket championship game, revenge could be on the Redbirds' minds throughout the tournament because Mid-Illini Conference foe Canton plays in the same tournament.

Canton, the third ranked team in the tournament, is the only loss the Redbirds suffered throughout the early goings of the season.

Also playing in the tournament is the first ranked Rockridge team and the second ranked Eureka Hornets.
