The Metamora High School basketball team has begun the second season.

The Redbirds started the Illinois Valley Central Regional Tuesday against the winner of the Dunlap and IVC game, which was held Monday night.

If the team won Tuesday, they will play at 7:30 p.m. Friday for the Regional championship.

The Regional also includes Peoria High School, Streator High School and Peoria Notre Dame.

The winner of the IVC Regional will play in the Peoria Sectional held at Bradley University.

The first Sectional game will be March 6 against the winner of the Galesburg Regional.

During the season, the Redbirds dominated most teams they faced and only struggled against one set of opponents.

The Mid-Illini Conference provided the main challengers to the Redbirds as the team fell to Washington twice and Canton and Pekin once to finish the season with a 9-4 conference record and a second place finish behind the Washington Panthers.
