Metamora still running hot

In the second to last Mid-Illini cross country meet of the season, the Metamora Runnin’ Red traveled to Canton with Dunlap.

The girls were defeated by Dunlap, 23-32, but overcame the Little Giants, 20-43.

The boys Runnin’ Red had no issue taking first for the day with wins over Dunlap, 20-29, and Canton, 15-50.

Leading the girls for Metamora was Kaitlyn Benson in fourth overall at 20:05. Cassy Fitzgibbons was right behind in fifth at 20:09.

Bethany Spradlin finished in eighth at 20:25 with Lexi Grieves on her heels in ninth at 20:41.

In 11th was Katie Pitts after crossing the line at 20:52 and Katie Kessler closed in finishing 12th at 20:57.

Ellie Osko rounded out in 17th at 21:19 for the girls Runnin’ Red.

Leading the pack again for the boys was Jake Gillum in first overall with a 16:05 finish.

John Crotteau wasn’t far off in second at 16:10.

Next in for Metamora was Matt Crotteau in seventh at 16:57 and Keaton McClure was right behind in eighth at 17:06.

Ryan Meyer finished in 10th for Metamora at 17:43. In 11th was Seth Guner at 17:49 and Ross Stanley finished up the three-pack in 12th at 17:51.

 Peoria Invite

At the Peoria High School Invite Saturday, the girls Runnin’ Red finished in 22nd out of 49 full teams running.

Leading the Metamora girls was Fitzgibbons in 81st overall at 19:19.62. Spradlin was next in at 19:57.82 for 132nd overall.  Grieves wasn’t to far behind in 140th at 20:03.84 and Pitts was right on her heels in 141 at 20:03.95.

Close behind in 146th was Kessler at 20:06.73. Osko and Emily Hasselbusch rounded out for Metamora after finishing just over the 21-minute mark.

To help pave the way for a sixth-place finish for the boys Runnin’ Red, Gillum finished 12th overall at 15:12.7 out of the 346 runners.

Next in for Metamora was Wipfler at 15:29.55 for 23rd and Mangold finished in 38th after a 15:38.48 time.

McClure crossed the line at 15:56.06 for 77th and Croteau was in 156th at 16:30.21.
