Lady Redbirds swing away for low scores

The Metamora girls golf team had a smooth outing at the Brook Hill Shootout Aug. 29 to earn fifth out of the 15 teams present.

The Lady Redbirds finished with a 369, 20 strokes behind first-place Batavia.

Laura Wipfler led Metamora marking an 88 on the card and was 14th overall. Mamie Ambrosch was two strokes behind Wipfler with an 88 to earn 17th.

Kelsey Troutt shot a 95 for 24th and Katie Troutt was right behind with a 96 for 28th.

“It was a great day. Everyone played well,” coach Chuck Danner said.

Against Canton for Metamora’s second Mid-Illini Conference dual at Wee-Ma-Tuck Country Club, the Lady Redbirds outshot the Little Giants, 201-219.

Wipfler was in first for the day with a 46. Megan Blevins followed with a 50 and Kelsey Troutt marked a 52.

Kristin Worner rounded out for Metamora with a 53.

Hannah Mueler was the low JV scorer with a 56.

“A good conference win on the road,” Danner said.
