Soccer picks up win over Knights
The Metamora boys soccer team held on to a one-goal advantage to top Richwoods, 1-0, on Sept. 1.
Danny Ausman had the lone unassisted goal in the 39th minute before halftime.
The Redbirds finished with six shots on goal, while goalie Shafer Miller had three saves.
The junior varsity team lost, 1-0.
The team kept momentum going at home against East Peoria on Sept. 4, dispatching the Raiders, 5-1.
Grant Billimack started the scoring off on an Ausman assist 4:15 into the game. In the 25th minute, Nick Danner added a goal on an Adam Hoskins assist.
Four minutes later, Derrick Russell scored a goal on a penalty kick.
In the second half, Jake Dimmick kept on scoring going off a Danner assist in the 54th minute before Russell finished the scoring on an unassisted goal in the 70th minute.
Metamora finished with 12 shots on goal, while Miller had a save at goal.
On Thursday, the Redbirds held with Washington until the 70th minute, when a goal by Mason McCoy gave the Panthers a 2-1 victory.
The lone score came from Jason Craft off a penalty kick in the 14th minute.
The Redbirds had five shots on goal, while Miller had five saves.
Bloomington used a strong first half on Saturday to hand the Redbirds (3-5-1, 2-0-0) their fifth loss of the season.
The lone goal for Metamora came in the 37th minute, as Danner scored off a Russell assist.
Miller had two saves at the goal.
