Redbirds win over Knights, fall to Potters in week two

In week two of regular season action, the Metamora boys varsity soccer faced Morton and Richwoods.

Morton 4, Metamora 0

 At Morton Sept. 2, the Redbirds fell in their first Mid-Illini Conference match of the season, 4-0.

The Potters, 2013 M-I conference champions, were able to get one by Metamora’s defense in the first half and then added their last three in the second.

Metamora was outshot on goal, 28-4. Goalkeeper Owen Greenfield finished with eight saves.

Metamora 1, Richwoods 0

Against Richwoods Saturday, Metamora was able to pull through for a 1-0 shutout with extra minutes on the clock.

Josh Opper was able to get the lone goal past the Knights defense in the 83rd minute.

Metamora outshot Richwoods, 19-14. Josh Classen was in the net and finished with 11 saves.
