Redbird soccer earns another M-I win

A win and a loss accounted for the Metamora varsity boys soccer team record in week three.

Metamora 3, Washington 0

In a M-I match against visiting Washington, the Redbirds were able to earn their first conference victory of the season, 3-0.

It didn’t take long for junior Clay Jones to find the back of the net with a goal in the 13th minute.

The game was scoreless through the rest of the first half and majority of the second until junior Corey Craig put two in past the Washington goalkeeper six minutes of each other with about 20 minutes left 

on the clock. 

The Redbirds outshot the Panthers, 18-10. Senior goalkeeper Josh Clasen finsihed with eight saves.

Bloomington 3, Metamora 2

At Bloomington Saturday, Metamora received its second loss of the season.

After the first half, Metamora led 2-1. 

Metamora’s Clay Jones countered a Bloomington goal in the 24th minute and was followed by Craig with a goal, just one minute later.

Half way through the second half, Bloomington was able to put in two more to secure the win.

Metamora outshot Bloomington 15,11.

Classen was in the net for the 80 minutes and had five saves.
