A Mid-Illini Conference dual at Limestone Sept. 23 had all the scoring done in the first half, but was enough to give the Redbirds a 4-1 victory over the Rockets.

Clay Jones bolted out nearing the two-minute mark and connected with his foot to put the first one in.

About 10 minutes later, Jones put in the second goal of the match for the 2-0 lead.

Lucas Calvaresi, with an assist by Josh Opper, got one past the Limestone goalkeeper in the 27th minute.

The Rockets countered a minute later for their lone goal.

The second half was stuck in the doldrums with no goals scored in the 40 minutes.

Metamora 3, Galesburg 1

Entering a non-conference match against Galesburg Thursday, the Redbirds struck early again for a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute off of Nick Hoenert’s foot.

The Silver Streaks came back four minutes later with one of their own.

Calvaresi was assisted by Ian Conger in the 36th minute before the buzzer ended the first half.

Nearing the end of the 80-minute match, Jones put one in the back of the net for the final goal for a 3-1 victory.

Metamora was limited to six shots on goal, but held Galesburg to four.

Josh Clasen was in the net and finished with three saves.
