Redbird soccer falls to Dunlap

Entering the final weeks of regular season action for the Metamora boys varsity soccer team, the Redbirds suffered a Mid-Illini Conference loss to Dunlap.

Metamora is now 3-2 in the league and 6-5-1 overall in the regular season.

An early goal by the visiting Eagles set the tone for a victory over Metamora, Sept. 30.

The Redbirds suffered a 3-1 loss, but are still holding onto a winning record in the league, 3-2.

Dunlap scored its first eight minutes in and another in the 31st minute to head into the second half.

Metamora’s Parker Phillips put in the Redbirds lone goal about 20 minutes into the second half.

Dunlap reacted with one of its own just a minute later to secure the 3-1 lead and win.

Metamora was outshot, 11-8, and had just one corner kick to Dunlap’s five.

Josh Clasen was in the net to finish with eight saves for the ‘Birds.

A nonconference match with Illinois Valley Central was canceled due to weather Thursday.
