Swim team handles Washington at home

The Metamora, Eureka, Roanoka-Benson swim team had no trouble with Washington on Sept. 18, winning, 115-60.

Morgan Brockhouse took the 200 freestyle in 2 minutes, 8.18 seconds. She followed that up with a win in the 100 butterfly in 1:07.98.

In the diving competition, Brooke Powell won with 122.55 points.

Kate Keller picked up the 100 freestyle win in 1:00.46 before Meghan Kelley won the 100 backstroke in 1:04.28.

Faith Johnson also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:15.76.

In the relays, the team of Jordyn Brockhouse, Alexandra Zalar, Keller and Morgan Brockhouse won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:49.83, before the 400 freestyle relay team of Sadie Robertson, Hunter Filson, Kate Decker and Britlyn Long won in 3:15.62.

On Saturday, the team took fifth at the Bloomington Invitational with 207 points.

Normal U-High won the invite with 413.5 points. The top three positions all went to Normal schools.

In individual swims, Kelley finished second for the team in the 100 breastroke.

She was the only individual swimmer to break the top five for the Redbirds.

In the relays, both the 200 medley relay team of Kelley, Johnson, Keller and Morgan Brockhouse and 200 freestyle relay team of Kelley, Keller, Jordyn Brockhouse and Morgan Brockhouse both took third place.
