The Metamora tennis team will be back in action with its first dual against Normal Community High School Monday at home.

The Metamora girls tennis team will be on the courts soon enough and head coach Brad Boeker will be entering his 10th year at the helm.

Metamora lost its two state doubles qualifiers, Becca Eller and Melissa Ringenberg after graduating this past May. The two qualified after a successful run in sectionals and went 1-2 in the state tourney.

The three seniors this year are Mallika Patel, Amanda Seaboch and Paige Kauman.

“They will all be in our lineup, and they will have to step up and fill the void.  I expect sophomores Maggie Kaufman and Addie Freitag to contribute right away, and juniors Lizzy Frantik, Delaney Segroves and Olivia Messenger will also get plenty of opportunities,” Boeker said.

“It’s a bit daunting to field an entirely new lineup from last year.  The positive side is that it creates plenty of chances for girls, not only for playing time, but also for leadership roles within our team.  I am excited to see how this team progresses this season.  I am very confident our team will improve greatly between now and the middle of October.”

After finishing third in the Mid-Illini Conference in the 2013 season, Boeker is looking forward to get back at it with some of the top players and the new courts being built at Washington Community High School.

Morton will be strong with Julie Martin returning as a senior and Dunlap returning as No. 2 in the M-I.

The Lady Redbirds first match will be Tuesday against Morton at home.
