Metamora volleyball off to a good start
The Metamora varsity volleyball team started the season with a five-game run at the Macomb Invitational and then a non-conference match at Olympia.
The Lady Redbirds are at a 4-2 record before entering Mid-Illini Conference action.
Macomb Invite
At Macomb, Metamora went 3-2 for fifth place.
Metamora lost the first match against Monmouth, 25-23,25-22. Gillian Urycki led with seven kills and Leah TerBush had six. Sydney Hanchett totalled for 10 assists.
Against North Fulton in the second match, the Lady Redbirds won, 25-13, 25-17. Terbush led with eight kills and Shannon Kempf had six. Chloe Harman had 10 assists.
Metamora went three sets with Lewistown and was able to come out with a win, 25-22, 19-25, 15-12. Kempf and Urycki both had six kills and Hanchett finished with 12 assists.
In the second loss of the tourney, Metamora fell to Rock Island, 25-15, 25-21. Rachel Klein was able to pull of five kills in the match and Harman and Hailey Mueller had two aces apiece.
The Lady Redbirds were able to pull out a win over Payson Seymour in their final game, 25-11, 25-22.
Terbush had four
kills and four aces. Quinn Mathews also earned four aces and Hanchett finished with nine assists.
At Olympia
The Lady Redbirds then traveled to Olympia Sept. 2 and battle through a two-set match for the win with extra points, 29-27, 26-24.
Kempf led with five kills and TerBush knocked in two aces over the net.
Harman finished with six assists against the Spartans.
