A decision by the Town Board to approve tax breaks for Pactiv Corp. was postponed for the second time at Tuesday night's Town Board meeting. Pactiv requires the town's approval to obtain a 4 percent tax abatement through the Empire Zone program sought by the plastics manufacturer to help fund the upgrading of its plant on North Street.

Town Supervisor Lloyd Kinnear said that he was not extended the same courtesy as the rest of the board members, who were contacted by Assemblyman Brian Kolb, R-Canandaigua, prior to the meeting to discuss Pactiv's request. Kinnear said he wanted to meet with Kolb and hear from the Ontario County Board of Supervisors before he made a final decision.

The postponement was passed by a vote of four to one, with Board member David Dawson sounding the sole vote against. The other three board members said that Kinnear should be given the opportunity that they had to meet with their state assemblyman.
