A Maynard man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges of indecent assault and battery at Concord District Court.

Thomas Sherr, 46, of 15 Reo Road, Maynard, is facing four counts of indecent assault and battery of a person aged 14 years or older.

Sherr was ordered not to have any contact with the alleged victim.

Sherr is a per-diem Boxborough firefighter/EMT. Meredith Lerner, a spokesperson for Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone’s office, would not comment on whether the alleged incident took place while Sherr was on duty.

Lerner said that the alleged victim was a woman, but declined to give her age.

Boxborough officials said that Sherr is currently on a leave of absence from the Boxborough Fire Department, which hires per-diem firefighters/EMTs to fill shifts not covered by full-time firefighters.

Fire Chief Geoffrey Neagle said that Sherr has worked with the department for 19 years.

Neagle and Town Administrator Selina Shaw said they had been instructed by town counsel not to discuss details of the case.

Sherr is due back in Concord District Court Oct. 10 for a pre-trial hearing. He did not immediately return a telephone message seeking comment.
